The Annual Flu Vaccination Programme is for patients aged 65 years or over on 31st March 2017 (plus those under 65 at risk because of a long-term health condition such as diabetes, chronic heart, liver or kidney disease, chronic asthma or COPD).
Clinics are usually held at Portesham Surgery from September to mid-October. Pulse checks and pneumococcal or shingles vaccination were also offered to eligible patients.
GPs also attend the following village halls for flu clinics: Puncknowle Village Hall; Litton Cheney (LATCH meeting room); Abbotsbury (Strangways Hall) and Burton Bradstock Reading Room.
Patients aged 70, 71, 72, 78 or 79 on 1st September 2016 were encouraged to have the Shingles vaccination. This is a relatively new vaccination programme offered since 2013; the aim is to offer it to all patients aged between 70 and 80 in a gradual programme (hence the complicated age range above).
