Puncknowle & Swyre parish is considering potential sites for development as part of the Neighbourhood Plan process. This work builds on the recent Housing Needs Survey that demonstrated the need for housing in the area. The community has indicated its support for limited development that would provide affordable housing in perpetuity for people with a local connection to live and work in the parish.
Five sites were initially put forward for consideration through the Call for Sites initiative but two of them were withdrawn before completion of assessment process.
In addition, a number of potential sites for development were suggested by residents throughout the neighbourhood plan work, notably through the Housing Needs Survey that was distributed to all households in the parish. These additional sites are considered as part of a determination of the broad principles for future development, recognising the unique rural nature of the parish and its important environmental constraints.
The final stage of work on site assessments is a public consultation on the draft findings. The public event on 27th January 2026 will be followed by a consultation period ending on 28th February 2026.
